Mesquite officials thank employees for $38,000 in donations, announce Feb. events and volunteer opportunities

City officials used the Jan. 20, 2026, meeting to highlight community events and volunteer opportunities and to thank employees for charitable fundraising.
Councilmember Jeff Casper announced that City of Mesquite employees raised more than $38,000 for local charities through the 2025 Real. Texas. Giving. campaign. Councilmember Kenny Green encouraged residents to apply for boards and commissions and invited citizens to a District 2 neighborhood meeting at Dallas College – Eastfield Campus on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
Councilmember Elizabeth Rodriguez‑Ross urged residents to sign up for Mesquite Alerts for emergency and community notifications and thanked donors to the WARM program, which provides temporary accommodations for unsheltered individuals during extreme weather. Councilmember Andrew Hubacek and others promoted the Mesquite Arts Theatre production of “Murder on the Orient Express” (Feb. 6–22, 2026), a Mesquite Symphony Orchestra concert on Feb. 7, and a Winter GLOW Fest on Feb. 14. Councilmember B. W. Smith invited the public to the annual Polar Plunge on Feb. 21 at Vanston Pool (2913 Oates Drive) to support Special Olympics athletes. Councilmember Brandon Murden noted Black History Month events set for Feb. 21 at Eastfield College, with a keynote by Courtney Brazile of Dallas College. Mayor Daniel Alemán, Jr., invited the community to the State of the Community event on Feb. 12 at the Mesquite Arts Center.
