Mesquite council approves hazard mitigation plan, major equipment purchases and $5.54M GMP for city building remodel

The Mesquite City Council approved a multi-item consent agenda at its Jan. 5 meeting that included Resolution No. 01-2026 adopting the City of Mesquite Hazard Mitigation Action Plan 2026 and Resolution No. 02-2026 authorizing the City Manager to finalize a Dallas County MCIP project-specific agreement for La Prada Drive (Project 11904). Councilmember Kenny Green moved the consent agenda and Councilmember Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff also reported awards for several procurement items: the purchase of one Caterpillar motor grader (bid award not to exceed $347,062.00), one skid steer and attachments (not to exceed $194,900.00), and a Convention Center furniture, fixtures and equipment package (not to exceed $287,996.59). The Council approved Supplemental Agreement No. 1 (Phase II) to the construction manager-at-risk services for the remodel of the City building at 823 North Galloway Avenue, establishing a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $5,535,764.18. Those items were bundled on the consent agenda and adopted without recorded opposition.
