Planning director: ADU rules go into effect Dec. 3; county to use self-attestation for permits

Derek Payne, Jefferson County Community Development director, told commissioners that accessory dwelling unit (ADU) rules will be legal effective close of business Dec. 3 and that the county will create a permitting process to follow, including self-attestation forms for applicants to confirm that HOAs or CC&Rs do not bar ADUs.
"So December 3 close of business December 3, they'll be legal, and then there'll be a permitting process," Payne said. The board also met Fatima Weir, the newly hired planning services manager, who described previous local-government planning experience and academic credentials and said she looked forward to supporting county planning efforts.
