Finance director: tax collections busy; asks board to allow temporary second till during peak season

Gabriel Solis, Jefferson County finance director, told the board Nov. 12 that the county is "in full swing of property tax collection" and that the office is busy in the lead-up to a due date the transcript describes as "this upcoming Monday." He said taxpayer visits and conversations have increased and that collections appear to be on track.
Solis said he will request a change to the county's annual petty-cash order to allow a temporary second till during the October–November tax-production season so both front-counter stations can accept payments and speed processing. "It would be nice to be able to hold both and have both running at the same time just so I can speed things along and make it more efficient," he said. The proposal would be considered as part of next year's petty-cash order.
