Council awards $56,202 pump purchase to Xylem for water department

Staff compared three quotes: Allied Oilfield Services $39,985.00 (wet-prime pump), Xylem Dewatering $56,202.25 (dri-prime/self-priming, municipal specification), and Odessa Pumps and Equipment $78,541.57. The staff recommendation favored the Xylem dri-prime model because it does not require pouring water into the pump casing to prime, which staff said improves efficiency during extreme weather and emergency repairs.
Council member Bill Powell moved to award the bid to Xylem Dewatering; Max Ledesma seconded. The motion carried unanimously. The purchase amount was noted to be within the approved budget for the Water Department.
