Levelland City Council certifies May 3 election, declares winners and approves 27 charter amendments

The Levelland City Council on May 12 approved Resolution No. 2025-08 certifying the results of the May 3, 2025 general and special elections and formally declaring the outcomes of council races and 27 charter amendment propositions. "To approve Resolution No. 2025-08 canvassing the 2025 General Election and the 2025 Special Election and declaring the results of those elections," the motion read; it was made by Council Member Bill Powell and seconded by Council Member Max Ledesma and carried unanimously.
City Secretary Andréa Corley presented the canvass information recorded in the official tally. The council declared Max Ledesma elected to Council District B (unopposed). In Council District D, Michael Stueart received 103 votes to Josh Randol’s 71. The transcript lists vote totals for Propositions 1 through 27; each proposition in the record shows more "For" than "Against" votes (examples from the record include Proposition No. 5, 384–81; Proposition No. 26, 267–143). The council noted that the Oath of Office will be administered at the regular meeting on May 19, 2025.
The meeting opened and closed quickly: Mayor Breann Buxkemper called the special meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., there were no citizen statements, the resolution was moved and approved, and the meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m. The action in Resolution 2025-08 affirms that the elections were conducted "in accordance with laws of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Levelland," as stated in the canvass language recorded in the minutes.
