SBA to staff Lena site, outlines loan limits for April storm survivors

Jim Accurso, speaking for the Small Business Association, told the Committee of the Whole that residents affected by the April 17, 2026 storm are eligible to apply in person when an SBA disaster center opens in Lena. "There is no fee to apply, no obligations, can work with loan officer to modify payments/loan increases, SBA will work with insurance companies," Accurso said, and he listed coverage limits: renters’ personal property up to $100,000, homeowners up to $500,000 and businesses up to $2 million.
Accurso said applications can be completed online and that an SBA center will be present at the Farmers Market; he added the center will generally remain open two weeks and could stay longer depending on demand. The board recorded the update during public participation and did not vote on a formal action during the meeting.
