Commissioners approve up to $25,000 for Buildings & Grounds office reconfiguration at fairgrounds

Tony Anderson, Buildings & Grounds director, described a plan to relocate department inventory and staff into a vacated manufactured home at the fairgrounds and to reconfigure the existing office by adding a partition wall. Anderson said the space is largely turnkey but will need laminate flooring, temporary fencing, gravel and minor framing; he requested up to $25,000 from fund 311 for those improvements and to create additional storage and meeting space.
Commissioners discussed access, wayfinding and ADA considerations and confirmed the plan would maintain a single public entrance for fairground visitors while adding a staff entrance near the proposed new office. One commissioner moved and the board approved the expenditure by voice vote. Anderson said the department plans to repurpose existing tables and to use temporary fencing year to year for fair needs; longer‑term goals include constructing a larger storage building within five years to protect vehicles and equipment from weather.
The motion authorized use of up to $25,000 from fund 311 for site prep, flooring and minor improvements; no further appropriations were made at the meeting.
