Board approves amendment to Oregon Health Authority IGA to restore public health funds

The board approved a fourth amendment to an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the Oregon Health Authority that restores public‑health funding used for communicable disease, STI work and COVID active monitoring.
Katie Russell (Public Health) told commissioners the PE101 funding is approximately $25,000 and will support communicable‑disease and related public‑health functions. She said the amendment also provides the remaining funds to bring preparedness funding back to prior levels; the funds will be available through the end of 2026.
A commissioner moved, a second supported the motion, and the board approved the amendment by voice vote. Russell said staff will use the restored funds to maintain disease response capacity, active COVID monitoring (with the caveat that the funds cannot be used to purchase vaccine) and emergency‑preparedness activities.
