The Board of Public Works and Safety heard multiple late rental-registration appeals and made case-by-case rulings.
Veronica Montemayor (appearing for her father Reuben Montemayor) said the payment attempt was made after hours and this was the owner’s first late filing; the board waived the late fee. William and Irma Campbell also said they missed the deadline by arriving after hours; the board waived the late fees for their four-unit building. For another property, staff recommended the late fee be applied after the owner (identified in records as Ronald Sutton) was not present; the board applied the fee in that instance.
Board members asked staff to provide appeal history and unit counts for each property before ruling; staff confirmed prior appeals or the lack thereof in several cases. The board’s rulings were recorded as recommendations and concurred by the Chair.
