Commissioners moved to approve the police lateral-eligibility list that was issued in January and signed the document as part of routine personnel business.
Staff explained the January hiring process and said the department "did hire the very 1st, handed in on that list, Ryan Van Zant." A commissioner asked how the commission could approve a list when a candidate on it had already been hired; staff explained timing delays and agreed the list still required commission signature.
The motion to approve the lateral list was moved and seconded and members agreed to sign the original document. The commission also noted the entry-level eligibility list is expiring and that the department will not request a 12-month extension; a new entry-level recruitment will likely be needed.
