The board reviewed a resolution and interlocal agreement with the Little Calumet River Basin Development Commission and the Town of Highland to preserve access on 179th Street as the town performs an underpass project at Kennedy Avenue.
A staff member explained that closing 179th would have disrupted a service road and that negotiation with the town and the commission produced a plan to keep the road open. The staff member said engineering secured savings by using the city's annual paving contract and proposed splitting costs roughly one-third (0.333) among the three parties.
Board members recommended approving the resolution and the agreement in substantial conformity, subject to any minor tweaks the town of Highland might request.
