The Board of Public Works and Safety recorded four bids on the Sportsplex grinder project and asked engineering and the consultant to review and tabulate the submissions.
Chair (speaker 1) read the bids into the record: Grimmer Construction (Highland, Ind.) — $124,500; Dyer Construction (Dyer, Ind.) — $162,895; Hassay Construction (Calumet City, Ill.) — $127,000; and Sawyer Plumbing (Hammond, Ind.) — $122,500. A board member asked that the board refer the bids to engineering for review and tabulation, and the board concurred.
A board member (speaker 4) described the operational need: recurring sewer backups that cause pumps to fail on a roughly biweekly pattern tied to weekend loading, saying the grinder work is intended to address those failures.
The board did not accept or reject any bid at the meeting; staff will return with the engineering tabulation and a recommendation for award.
