Snoqualmie swears in Scott Miller as new police chief

Scott Miller was sworn in as Snoqualmie’s police chief during the City Council meeting on Aug. 10, taking the oath after the council introduced him as the city’s new police leader. Mayor administered the oath while Miller raised his right hand and repeated the oath of office.

Miller told the council and attendees, “I am honored and privileged to be here today and serve the city of Snoqualmie and you all and working with you all, to make Snoqualmie to continue to be one of the safest places in Washington state.” He thanked the mayor and council and said he and his wife had already felt “a great welcome” from neighbors.

During the oath Miller affirmed he would “faithfully and impartially perform the duties of my office as prescribed by law” and support city ordinances, resolutions and policies as well as state and federal constitutions. The mayor framed the event as a ceremonial swearing-in; no council vote on the appointment was recorded during the meeting, and the mayor said Miller had begun service with the city that day.

The council and mayor welcomed Miller and his family, and the mayor encouraged the community to extend a “strong Snoqualmie welcome.”
