The board authorized agreement 2026‑0289 PW with Contreras Construction Corp. for $518,170 to build two USTA‑compliant tennis courts at Romero Park as part of a previously approved phase of the park master plan. Commissioners discussed whether demand for tennis courts remains strong in the face of rising pickleball use before approving the contract.
Separately, the board approved change order #1 to agreement 2026‑0004‑CCD/BT with Energy Systems Group for $546,279.52 to address construction‑phase lighting control findings at the Judicial Complex, ballistic inserts for 102 Grant Avenue, an HVAC demo wall and contingency. Jacqueline Beam, sustainability manager, told commissioners the guaranteed savings model still stands but the change order slightly adjusts projected savings over the contract period. Both items passed on voice votes.
