Public Health staff presented a regional public‑health modernization memorandum of understanding between Crook, Jefferson and Deschutes counties to sustain shared positions that support epidemiology, outreach and climate‑health coordination. Staff said the regional approach increases capacity across rural counties and improves response and prevention work.
The board approved the MOU and a $50,000 annual payment to Deschutes County to support the regional positions. Commissioners asked about equal representation and staff confirmed the regional positions have been responsive and are delivering services to Jefferson County. The agreement was approved by voice vote.
