Commissioners approve Helion and county server upgrades to modernize assessor and IT systems

County IT staff explained that the Helion assessor system and numerous host servers are nearing end‑of‑life and require upgrades to current Microsoft server licenses and more modern server hardware. IT staff said Helion’s vendor is deprecating older software versions and that the county must provide updated server space and licensing to allow the assessor and other county applications to move to current supported platforms.
An online participant and IT lead described the upgrade as a countywide project to bring host servers and many virtual machines up to date for security and audit compliance. "Helion ... is old, to put it put it lightly. So we actually need to get that upgraded," one IT presenter said. Commissioners approved the Helion licensing and host‑server purchases and directed finance to use budgeted capital and, if necessary, risk‑reserve funds to cover near‑term cash‑flow needs.
