District maintenance leader details $1M-plus chiller rebuild, energy upgrades and safety fixes

Westbrook said one chiller shown in the presentation "is well over 1,000,000 dollars." He also described installing a heat exchanger that is still being tied into the system and is expected to recover energy costs and likely pay for itself in about a year. Other projects included speed bumps near the baseball field to improve safety, a roof-hugger metal recovery approach at Jefferson Field, new parking/lane work at Hunter Street, and substantial water-line repairs. The board thanked maintenance staff and custodians for their work; no contract awards were finalized during the meeting.
