York 1: summer feeding program served thousands across 10 sites, officials say

Leticia Holt, York School District 1's director of food services, told the board the district's federally funded summer feeding program partnered with Chartwells and reached 10 sites this summer, serving more than 5,000 breakfasts and about 5,700 lunches.
Holt said the program serves children under 18 who must eat on site and that meals include meat, grains, vegetables, milk and fruit. "On an average, we had up to 870 students for breakfast... as well as 890 for lunch," she said, and described staffing: 11 team members including drivers, management, food preparation and site monitors. Holt also said the district is recruiting additional community summer sites and highlighted cold, portable meals used for off-site activities.
The board offered brief praise for the program and thanked staff; no budget action was taken at the meeting, though Holt noted ongoing efforts to expand site participation next year.
