BZA amends landscaping condition for Chipotle patio; staff and petitioner to identify compensatory planting
Summary
Petitioner and staff agreed to amend the landscaping condition for the Chipotle patio (Z-26-13b) so staff and the petitioner will work together to relocate or compensate for required landscaping elements elsewhere on the property.
During consideration of Z-26-13b (the request not to fully enclose the patio), petitioner representatives raised practical concerns about planting survival in front of the patio (salt, snowplows and maintenance). The petitioner asked that required landscaping be handled in a way that is durable and practical for Northwest Indiana conditions.
Acting Chairman and staff proposed amended language requiring staff and the petitioner to work together to identify compensatory landscaping elsewhere on the property. The board accepted the amendment and approved the staff report and findings of fact as amended (roll call 3 ayes, 0 nays).
