Poulsbo commissioners back effort to form Parks & Trails Foundation and expand volunteer partnerships

Commissioners reported on an initial meeting to explore creating a Parks and Trails Foundation to raise funds and broaden community support for park projects. Organizers named required skills (marketing, legal, fundraising) and began identifying potential volunteers and community partners; staff said slides and a simple call-to-action will be prepared this summer to recruit board members and donors.

Separately, commissioners praised a student pollinator presentation from Pearson Elementary at City Council and described a June 5 site-selection meeting for the first-year planting plan. Staff noted volunteer work parties continue (second and fourth Fridays) but also said the program needs more volunteers to maintain stewardship across many parks. The group encouraged commissioners and partners to use networks (Rotary, Lions, local businesses) to recruit volunteers for maintenance and future projects.
