Commission staff presented a consolidated set of goals for 2025–2026 and asked commissioners to prioritize action items and contribute content for an impact report tied to the city’s PROS plan. The goals list includes: participating in special meetings and task forces, regularly visiting parks and programs to collect feedback, supporting volunteer actions, fostering leadership and engagement, assisting programming and grants, and increasing community awareness through marketing and outreach. Commissioners discussed publishing role descriptions and developing onboarding materials for new appointees.
On public engagement, staff and commissioners agreed to produce a compact reference guide or "toolbox" containing a short script for public events, links to the PROS plan and impact statements, and suggested talking points for commissioners. Staff asked commissioners to complete a simple ranking exercise before the June meeting so the commission can prioritize which goal-driven projects to pursue next. "It's a public engagement toolbox," one staff speaker summarized; the group also discussed making a separate commissioner development/onboarding packet.
