Project manager reports steady progress on EMS Station 1; Xcel requires gas‑meter slab

County project manager Jeff Hickam updated commissioners on EMS Station 1 construction: footings and foundation walls have been poured, underground plumbing and electrical work is in place, radiant-heat tubing is being installed and a major concrete pour (roughly 200 yards) is scheduled. Big Valley is providing monthly drone footage for progress monitoring.
Hickam said Xcel Energy is now requiring the county to pour a roughly 10-by-10 concrete slab for the gas meter because the meter "weighs over 1,000 pounds" and cannot be mounted to the wall; he said he will present a change order with pricing. Hickam expressed confidence the project will be substantially dried in by mid-January, with steel and pre‑engineered metal building assembly to follow.
