Finance Director Alina Bell told commissioners the county's capitalization policy — last set at $5,000 in May 2015 — should be increased to $10,000 for next calendar year to adjust for inflation and align with federal uniform guidance and the state.
A commissioner asked to see the written policy language before approval. Another commissioner said they had not seen the policy and requested the item be returned as a policy for legal review. Based on that concern and legal advice the original motion was rescinded and the board gave direction to staff to develop a written policy and present it for legal review and formal approval at a future meeting.
