Bronxville Planning Board approves reduced sidewalk seating for OPA OPA

The Bronxville Planning Board approved a revised outdoor seating plan for OPA OPA at its June meeting, endorsing three four-top tables and one two-top in a sideways configuration to preserve pedestrian flow. A committee member moved approval and the board voted unanimously.

Brigitte, who identified herself as representing Nick Bustini, presented the application and described the proposed layout as having "5 tables and 16 seating." Board members noted the restaurant had outdoor seating historically but that the new plan placed an additional table near the corner that raised pedestrian-safety concerns. "I think anything on Pond Field where it's really busy is gonna be problematic," the Chair said during the discussion.

Members debated table geometry and orientation, preferring rectangular fours arranged sideways (chairs parallel to the window) to reduce backs facing pedestrians. A committee member moved to "approve 3 tables of 4, 1 table of 2 seats" and explicitly exclude the additional table on Pawnfield; Brigitte seconded and the motion carried after an "Aye" vote.

The board discussed dimensions during the review (participants referenced "5 0 by 3 0" and "30 inches" in plan notes) and confirmed the adopted configuration closely matches the historic footprint that previously occupied the Cedar Street side. The approval directs the applicant to reflect the sideways configuration in final plans and to remove the table proposed near the curve.
