Typically, they'll provide the boat name. If possible, they'll provide the owner's name,” a port staff member said. City and council members pressed the contractor’s operational details (daily procedures, guarantees about not leaving full tanks unattended) and asked for written commitments if the city were asked for additional funding in the future.
Officials also raised an environmental concern: multiple speakers said many anchored boats do not use pump‑out services and some vessels appear to discharge directly into the bay. Port staff noted portable pump‑out units and two stationary pump‑outs are available free to users, and encouraged better documentation and coordination to ensure summer season coverage.
