The action followed staff testimony that the facility inspection identified issues with multiple units and that the systems may be nearing the end of typical warranty life. The commission treated the situation as an emergency and approved the contract without delaying for a separate bid cycle.
Commissioners also asked staff to provide additional documentation about the inspections and the selected contractor’s qualifications and warranty coverage at a future meeting. The commission did not provide a dollar value for the repair award in the transcript; staff indicated the repair work began promptly because of the operational urgency.
