Roanoke volunteers, Roanoke Bar Association donate books and bike racks to RCPS, DAR plans Constitution Week events

And I am here to to celebrate..." and announced that the Roanoke Bar Association is donating 800 copies of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence to Roanoke City Schools seniors for government classes. Durek also described free Constitution Week programming, including screenings at the Grandin Theater.
Miss Watkins, reporting on accepted gifts, said the board accepted a $2,500 award in landscaping materials from the Lowe's Heroes program for James Madison Middle School and two bicycle racks (combined value roughly $1,500) donated through the Friends of the Blue Ridge and Roanoke Valley Allegheny Regional Commission program; the racks will be installed at Preston Park and Morningside Elementary School.
Watkins invited additional partnerships and thanked community donors for supporting outdoor spaces, student materials and civic education programming. The board received the gift report and offered public thanks to donors; no formal board action was required beyond acceptance.
