Harriet Emerson, a committee member, outlined plans for a public workshop scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17 at the town library. The session will focus on free and low‑cost ways to reduce energy use and emissions — topics listed include no‑idling, reducing driving speed, switching to electric lawn equipment, and energy‑efficient appliances.
Harriet said the event will begin around 6 p.m. and run to about 7 p.m., with opportunities for discussion and real‑time feedback. She proposed inviting Cape Light Compact to provide a presentation and rebate updates, and suggested including representatives from South Shore Community Action Council if available. The committee agreed to use both analog and simple tech methods (short in‑event surveys or quick audience prompts) to gather attendee input.
Members volunteered to support event publicity and staffing. The working group will produce a flyer and Harriet will coordinate promotion; Kathy offered to post the flyer and the town liaison suggested including the event in the town manager’s monthly newsletter. The committee also discussed staffing a materials table and running check‑ins at the event.
