The Log Cabin Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed a permit application from property owner/applicant Phyllis Meshell for an enclosure of an existing porch at 14536 Davy Crockett. Meshell did not attend the Jan. 14 meeting; staff Officer Amy Meyers and commissioners discussed the submission.
Commissioners raised safety and code-compliance concerns, specifically the lack of egresses and the absence of electrical and HVAC plans necessary for conversion to a habitable bedroom. Joe Clark moved that the commission "approve based on information received via permit application for 14536 Davy Crockett, the permission to proceed to the point of enclosure, but not to be occupied until further electrical, egresses, and HVAC plans are submitted" and the motion was amended to require that those plans be reviewed and approved in a separate permit review. Bill Sims seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The commission recorded the approval as conditioned: the enclosure work may proceed to closure but the space cannot be occupied until separate electrical, egress, and HVAC plans are submitted and approved as part of a later permit review. Staff will process the follow-up submittals through the regular permitting workflow.
