The Monte Sereno City Council on June 16 approved a resolution updating the city’s fee schedule after a councillor asked staff to explain how the changes were calculated and how the city will use its Tyler accounting system to improve fee reporting.
During discussion a council member noted a discrete fee figure and asked for confirmation: "So just to be clear, it's up to $3.03," and staff replied that the amount could be less but not more than that figure. Council members also discussed the value of structuring chart-of-account codes by department, saying that better account coding would let the city understand whether fees recover the cost of services or leave gaps that need larger policy choices.
City staff said the 2018 fee study had used step increases and the current approach reflects inflation and better accounting information coming through Tyler. After discussion, a motion to adopt the resolution updating the fee schedule was made and approved on a roll-call vote.
