Monte Sereno council reviews public-draft general plan update, asks staff for more precise language

Asher Cohn, principal planner with EM Group, told the Monte Sereno City Council that the staff recommendation for the special meeting was "review and provide feedback on the general plan update public review draft." The consultant said the update revises background data, maps and policy language and integrates newly required environmental-justice provisions while keeping land‑use designations unchanged.
Council members asked staff to return with clarified, nonbinding language that addresses their local priorities. Mayor Allen and several council members urged staff and the city attorney to craft wording to make the plan durable and to avoid language that could inadvertently allow greater density than intended. Staff said they will revise the redline and return with an adoption-ready draft this summer and that council members can contact the city manager or the EM Group with questions before adoption.
