Natividad reports 18 JOC projects, upgrades to central plant and ICU

Brian Griffin, project manager at Natividad Medical Center, presented the hospital's job-order-contracting update to the Capital Improvement Committee, saying Natividad completed 18 projects during the reporting period and currently has two active JOC contracts.
"Natividad completed 18 projects ranging from central plant improvements to departmental, refresh projects," Griffin said, and listed specific work: a rebuilt central-plant chiller and building-automation upgrade meant to improve cooling reliability and efficiency; an intensive care unit refresh that included new flooring, paint and an ergonomic nurses station; a remodel of the phlebotomy department to improve patient and staff experience; and several emergency projects responding to water damage in buildings. Griffin said contractor evaluations included in Exhibit B were favorable for the reporting period.
Committee members thanked Natividad staff for updating a backlog of reports and asked about priority-setting for larger capital needs. Staff acknowledged seismic compliance obligations (OSHPD) that will shape timelines for certain hospital projects and said they will work to include anticipated high-dollar projects in future regular reporting.
