The East Hampton superintendent updated the board on several capital projects and said most work is progressing on schedule.
“The high school now has a brand new gym floor that's not significantly old, and the work is beautiful,” the superintendent said, citing completed gym floors and ongoing work on a middle‑school boiler, parking‑lot resurfacing and science lab piping. He added, “We have submitted plans, our architect, and, we are just waiting now,” describing the status of the proposed turf field and related approvals.
Why it matters: the projects affect building safety, daily operations and extracurricular activities across the district. The superintendent said building‑level safety plans and capital updates will continue to be provided at future board meetings as projects advance. The superintendent also asked the board to expect continued scheduling of walkthroughs for board members to view progress in person.
The board did not vote on capital spending during this portion of the meeting; the comments were presented as a routine facilities update in the superintendent's report.
