A county planning staff member told the board the property had been rezoned to commercial years earlier as part of a larger tract with frontage on Crest Highway, and the applicant carved out about 2 acres to sell or combine with an adjacent single-family lot. "The request that is before you is a rezoning request from C-2 to R-2," the staff member said, noting the planning commission recommended approval with no conditions. No members of the public signed up to speak against the request.
A commissioner moved to approve the change; another commissioner seconded the motion, and the board approved it by voice vote. The board’s recorded discussion emphasized that the parcel is surrounded by residential properties on most sides and that staff findings supported the change. The rezoning affects tax parcel 023C087 in Land Lot 97 of the 15th Land District in District 2.
The approval was procedural: planning staff and the planning commission had already recommended rezoning to restore a residential use consistent with surrounding lots. The board did not attach additional conditions when it voted to adopt the rezoning.
