Council approves Liberty Landing final plat; staff note tree retention and sidewalk improvements

The Poulsbo City Council on May 14 approved the final plat for the Liberty Landing development, a project on Hamilton Court and Jensen Way consisting of eight lots on 0.86 acres.
Planning staff reported the development had previously received preliminary plat approval, has dedicated infrastructure to the city, and posted performance bonds for construction of internal driveways and site amenities. Staff noted four model homes are already under construction under the preliminary approvals; the posted bond prevents certificates of occupancy until remaining items (driveways, landscaping) are finished.
Council members discussed tree retention: staff pointed out that two trees were removed during construction but three remain and a substantial landscaping plan will accompany the development. Councilmember Tabor (who described living adjacent to the project) highlighted sidewalk improvements as a community benefit and supported final plat approval.
The council briefly queried whether the packet motion language should include authorization for the mayor to sign; staff said the city engineer and planning director will sign the final plat so rephrasing was unnecessary. The final plat motion passed on recorded vote.
