Council highlights UNK partnership, park improvements to keep Dryden Park public

Council members described a memorandum of understanding with the University of Nebraska at Kearney (referred to in the meeting as "UNK") and private donors to fund upgrades at Dryden Park's softball facilities while the city retains maintenance responsibility and public access.
"It's a partnership with UNK," a council member said, adding that "the city will continue to maintain Dryden Park, field and the park itself. It'll be available for public access, which is important to note." The council member said the improvements will give the field a more "college feel" and benefit both UNK athletes and neighborhood residents.
The mayor recognized Mark Bauer of the community for the partnership at Dryden Park. Council members noted that some short-term road closures will be necessary during construction and that staff had conducted outreach to at least one resident with questions.
