Summer Blake, senior librarian for children's services, told the council the library ran 235 programs over June and July with combined attendance of 6,007, and that 1,024 people registered for the summer reading program across age groups. She described offerings for children, teens and adults and showcased examples including teen entrepreneur programs, woodshop events for ages 7'12 and an exhibition honoring Asian American military service.
Blake urged residents to register for continuing programs, noted the fall semester registration deadline of Sept. 12 for adult English-language classes and highlighted a family film screening on Aug. 29 focused on Chinese theater and film. Council members thanked library staff for the range of summer offerings and encouraged community participation.
