Committee proposes cleanup of decades-old ordinance list, will follow up on two fee items

The committee reviewed a consolidated list of pending ordinances and agreed to prioritize two items for immediate follow-up: a municipal service fee for yard-waste pickup ($7.07) and a municipal license tax ($7.41). Chair (S1) said both items needed further review and noted one had been submitted in November 2022 and the other in October 2024.

“We agreed that those were the ones that we needed to follow-up on,” Chair said. Members also flagged numerous older entries on the spreadsheet that lack explanatory notes in past minutes; the chair described spending time searching older minutes and hard-copy records to identify the original purposes of several references. Several items dating from 2022 were described as candidates for removal if no continuing local interest or legal need exists.

Committee members asked staff to verify whether state code updates have rendered any entries obsolete and whether the city's current contract for ordinance maintenance covers the needed cross-checks. S2 said they would review recent legislation and report back after consulting code enforcement and the municipal attorney, and Chair said the committee would clean up the spreadsheet and circulate a revised list for feedback.
