The Hutchinson City Council recessed into executive session at the Aug. 11 special meeting for attorney-client consultation under KSA 75-4319. "I move the city council recess into executive session pursuant to KSA 75-4319 for consultation with the city attorney regarding matters protected by the attorney-client privilege," the Mayor (S2) said when moving the motion.
The motion was seconded by Council member (S4) and approved by roll call. The council later approved a motion, moved by Council member (S1) and seconded by Council member (S4), to authorize the mayor to sign and the city attorney to transmit the proposed city correspondence substantially in the form presented. The council also moved and approved extensions to the executive session and then voted to adjourn the special meeting.
Recorded procedural items at the meeting included: a motion to enter executive session; a motion and vote to extend the executive session (first for 20 minutes, then for another short interval discussed by the council); approval of the proposed correspondence and authorization to transmit it; and a motion to adjourn. The meeting record shows the council handled these procedural actions by motion, second and roll-call or voice votes during the special meeting.
