Council opts to lease new copier as current lease nears end of March

Mayor Wanda Irish told the council the city's copier lease expires at the end of March 2025 and presented two options: buy out the current copier (which would make the city responsible for toner, parts and repairs) or lease a new machine that would include toner, replacement parts and service calls in the monthly fee. "If the city opts to buy out the current copier, it will be responsible for purchasing toner and replacement parts, as well as covering the costs of any repairs," the mayor warned.
Joe Cornell moved to lease a new copier and Charlie Shutt seconded; the motion passed 5–1. Will Butler voted no. The council did not provide specific lease cost figures at the meeting; the administration said it would continue negotiations with Fisher Technology.
