Accounting software error delayed Halifax’s June final; finance staff to circulate corrected report

During the FY27/August financial review, finance staff reported a software issue that duplicated June revenue entries and delayed circulation of the final year-end report.
"There was an issue on the cash book side of things where it was everything was being duplicated," Lindsay said, explaining that the SoftRight error duplicated June revenue for one staff member's entries. She said she and another staffer would clear it up and circulate a final June report the following morning.
Lindsay told the committee the error was revenue-specific and affected some revolving accounts; general-fund figures should be intact. Committee members asked for a corrected reconciliation and, where applicable, the underlying invoices and transfers that created the discrepancy so they could verify why the draft showed an overage (committee referenced an apparent $6 million variance pending correction).
Lindsay committed to following up with a corrected report and to provide documentation that will support the tax-rate recap and free-cash certification.
