Speakers raised pedestrian safety issues, noting walkability study recommendations such as safer crossings and surface choices for paths that are navigable by walkers and wheelchairs. Council members said development- and planning-stage conversations will be critical for ensuring new projects include accessible design features rather than retrofits.
The commission suggested staff and councillors coordinate to explore funding and logistics for shuttle pilots and to flag upcoming grant opportunities that could support transportation adaptations.
