Dyer outlined fence quotes ranging roughly $35,000–$50,000 depending on scope and described the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Round 2 timeline (instructions release Sept. 3; applications due in October). She said including fence work in a 90/10 matching grant could stretch donor and municipal dollars and suggested staff pursue grant options before using donor funds for full replacement.
"We don't want an additional tax to pay for this swimming pool," Dyer said, adding that the group hoped to preserve donor funds for grant-matching and attractions that increase attendance. Council members asked technical questions about whether the existing fence is grandfathered; Dyer responded that safety issues are not grandfathered and that gates requiring self-closing, self-latching hardware can be updated for a relatively small cost in some cases.
