Council hears updates on jury-duty enforcement, Kim's traffic-light study and Senior Center demolition plan

The council received updates on several administrative and community items at the Nov. 12 meeting.
Mayor Forgy said he spoke with Judge Galloway, who "advised the City Council cannot make decisions about how to enforce citizen participation for Jury Duty, because that decision is up to his discretion as the City Judge." The judge is exploring enforcement options.
On the Kim's Convenience traffic-light request, Mayor Forgy said TxDOT indicated Lone Oak has not had a traffic-light study since 2004; he sent a formal study request and met with a TxDOT staff member named James, who is "on board with performing the traffic light study" and expects the study in the next couple of weeks.
On the Senior Center, Mayor Forgy and Chief Paul Robertson described a volunteer-driven interior demolition plan to be done over several weekends. Volunteers will sign waivers, wear masks and protective gear; after the interior demolition the council will vote on the next steps for the facility.
