Council tables police holiday pay; chief reports 20 vehicle impounds for no insurance

A motion to consider holiday pay for the police department was tabled until the council’s Nov. 12 meeting so staff could clarify the employee handbook language. Councilmember Owen made the motion to table and Mayor Pro‑Tem Williams seconded; the motion passed 5‑0.
In departmental reports earlier in the meeting Police Chief Paul Robertson presented citation statistics and reported the department had impounded 20 vehicles for lack of insurance. Robertson also said one of the newly purchased police vehicles sustained damage during delivery and another vehicle is still awaiting graphics to be applied.
The council took no further action on police holiday pay at the Oct. 8 meeting but set the item to return for consideration with clarified handbook language.
