Public works explained the spreader is intended for the village's smaller dump truck to serve the original side of town and narrow alleys that larger trucks cannot safely access. "This will be for our f 5 50, our small dump truck that takes care of the original side of town, the alleys," the public works speaker said in the meeting. The board confirmed that multiple bids were included in the procurement package before voting.
Supporters said the center-dump configuration will allow more efficient salting during cleanup passes and help when temperatures drop and conventional rock salt loses effectiveness. The resolution passed on roll call and staff will arrange the purchase and equipment placement into operations.
