Council rezones parcel north of East 56th Street to AG

Craig Bennett returned to present a rezoning request for MP Land Development covering a parcel north of East 56th Street, west of Avenue K and Avenue I. He told the council the parcel lies outside the city limits but is contiguous to agricultural land the owner controls; staff noted the county currently taxes the parcel as AG.
Bennett said the rezone from R-1 to AG aligns the zoning with current use and the future land use map’s designation for park/rec/open spaces. Council members asked about taxation and technical details; Bennett confirmed county tax treatment and that the rezoning would maintain continuity with adjacent ag land. The council moved, suspended three readings and approved Ordinance No. 8778 on final passage by roll call.
