Two Kearney police sergeants sworn in at council meeting

The Kearney City Council opened its meeting with a ceremony honoring local law enforcement, during which two Kearney Police Department sergeants were promoted and sworn in.
Chief Kualik, introduced by the mayor, praised the newly promoted officers for their qualifications and local ties. "We really feel like we are promoting the right sergeants here," he said, noting the officers’ roles in mentoring, tactical teams, and community engagement. The chief also described candidates’ backgrounds, including experience as FTOs and Emergency Service Unit members.
The oath of office was administered and family members participated in a pinning. Council members and members of the public offered congratulations. The council then moved to regular business.
