Claymont Board Signs Off on Personnel Moves, Contracts and 6th Grade Overnight Trip

The Claymont board approved a broad package of superintendent recommendations at its Jan. 12 meeting, covering personnel, professional development, field trips and contracts.
Personnel actions approved included an unpaid leave for Alexis Stallman effective Feb. 24–Apr. 21, 2026; hiring Samual Schafer as a full-time preferred substitute custodian at $15/hour effective Jan. 6, 2026; approval of Brandy Bishop as a certified ELA substitute at $90/day (retroactive Jan. 5–9, 2026); and a partial mentor payment of $498 to Ian Meiser. The board also approved payment at $27/hour for listed PD and calendar committee members and approved Joyce Mehok as a preschool volunteer.
On operations and partnerships the board approved an overnight 6th grade camp trip scheduled Oct. 26–28, 2026; a Memorandum of Understanding with Kent State University for College Credit Plus for 2026–2027; annual membership in the Ohio School Boards Association for $8,398; and contracts with OME-RESA (internet services with E-Rate), Congruex (fiber removal and central office setup) and Laketec (UPS unit services using E-Rate). The board also approved classified substitutes for 2025–2026, including Theodore "Buddy" White, pending credentialing.
